Come one come all to redseven’s inaugural event: imagine a world on Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Berkeley Church Field House in Toronto!  Join redseven and help us achieve our goal of raising $12,000 to build a primary school in Lai Gow, India for 40 primary students.

imagine a world will be filled with music, dancing, live art and an art auction, comprised of pieces from the young artist community in Toronto. Included in the $50 ticket are delectable hors d’oeuvres, 2 drink tickets and net proceeds go to our $12,000 goal.

Shana is a recent graduate of OCAD with a degree in Design, with a focus on digitally printed textiles. She also studied at Winchester School of Art in England. Shana believes in exploration and has just come back from India where she was able to use her design knowledge to help those in need. Her other work is currently for sale at MADE.

Ainsley is an illustrator with over six years of professional illustration experience in addition to a Graphic Designer Diploma. Using primarily oil paints for colour pieces, as well as pen and ink for black and white pieces, she has absorbed, moulded and created an artistic style that truly stands out.

Jordan Bower is a Toronto-born photographer who ponders big questions.  His pilgrimages have taken him to high mountains and low deserts all over the world.  He believes in independent travel as a manner of developing the inner voice and finding self-awareness.  His next trip, beginning in summer 2010, is a 2,700km walk down the west coast of North America.

Ajani Charles is a published digital photographer based in Toronto–the Canadian city famed for its cultural diversity and the creative dynamism of its artistic community. A graduate of the nationally acclaimed Claude Watson Arts Program, Ajani also apprenticed at the Toronto School of Art and the Art Gallery of Ontario. For Ajani the camera is a medium for self-expression and photography the ideal art form for capturing the ineffable beauty of people, objects, and landscapes.

Amanda is a 24 year old Toronto based photographer who has a passion for teaching all things history. She is passionate about photography and excited to be showcased

danielle da silva

Danielle Da Silva is one young person to start watching. Newly graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science in conservation biology, psychology and global studies, Danielle is a professional photographer, writer, and is the founder of two education and photography-related organizations. Danielle Da Silva has been creating photographs professionally since 2009, but has been practicing the art/science since she took her dad’s old 35mm Pentax with her to Central America at the age of 17.

The inspiration for her work is the world around her, emotion, imagination, love of colour, and the texture of paint. Liz believes that paint is one of the greatest mediums invented. “Paint has the ability to transform and create magic in front of your eyes.” Her paintings employ many different media, and Liz is always challenging herself to move in different directions.

José-Gabriel, painter, designer, curator, creator and founder of the former Funktion Gallery, has continued in his pursuit of creative opportunity, expansion and experience by launching Studio32.ca, a window into Canadian Street Art, Culture and music that also provides creative services such as Graphic Design, Web Design, Commissioned Paintings & Illustrations and more.

Visual Artist Steven Henderson has been drawing, painting and building things since childhood.  Born in 1975 and Educated in the Visual Arts at Central Technical School and OCAD he currently runs a small business doing various design and art  commissions for independent clients throughout Toronto. Steven will be performing live at imagine a world, with Patrick Thompson.

iain lamont

Iain Lamont is a 14 year-old photographer from Toronto, Ontario who attends a French language junior high school in the city. At age 10, he began focusing his photography on wildlife and landscape images. He has traveled and photographed his journeys to Alaska, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and South America.  Iain hopes his next stop will be Egypt.

While working in Ghana in 2009, Norah had the opportunity to stay with one of the Future Island School founders, Mr. Ababio, and his family. They have selflessly dedicated a large part of their lives to building this school and guaranteeing that no child in the community will go without formal education or a nutritious lunch. Norah learned about the importance of building community assets for future generations and how the vision of just two people can impact the direction of an entire community, and her art is a reflection of this experience.

AJ is a dynamic photographer living in Toronto.  His work includes fine art, weddings, sports, documentography and portraits.

tamara mida-broder

Tamara is a lawyer by day and an avid artist by night, with a particular interest in painting, sketching and cartooning.  Tamara has a background in theatre and has been an active member of the theatre community in both Toronto and Montreal working as a publicist, director and costume designer, as well as participating in the Fringe Festival as an actor and playwright.  Tamara is honoured to be a part of this redseven event and the organization’s commitment to global education.

Sarah Phelps exhibits diversity, with everything in her life. She has a vibrant passion for creativity in art, wellness, and the environment. Sarah is a minimalist with a colourful twist. She has chosen the paths of an Artist, Wildlife Biologist, and Personal Trainer. Sarah thrives on inspiring others and draws inspiration from the positive energy that surrounds her. She is motivated by everyone, and every thing. Sarah’s artistic talents are those of abstract paintings.

michelle sim

Michelle Sim was born on January 31, 1985 in Toronto, Ontario but has spent a majority of her life living in Parry Sound, Ontario.  She has a BA in Fine Arts and a degree in Collections Conservation & Management.  When it comes to painting, Michelle is influenced by the world around her and loves using lots of colour to create emotion that will connect with the viewer.

hilary slater

Hilary Slater is an artist who works with a number of different mediums. She paints with oil and watercolour and is also a photographer, potter, landscape architect, and writer. She has been producing and selling artwork for 30 years, and has pieces in private collections in Germany, Britain, France, Toronto, Guelph, Richmond Hill and Mount Forest.

rachael speirs

Rachel is a native Torontonian and part time social worker who seeks to develop a nature-inspired comfort and whimsical beauty in her mixed media visual work. She is heavily influenced by antiques and old fashioned handmade items including embroidery, lace and quilting. She is also inspired by nature and historical aspects of Toronto.

yeon sun nam

Yeon sun Nam was born in Seoul, South Korea, and immigrated to Canada with her family in 2003.  She received a college diploma in 2002 from Kaywon School of Art and Design in South Korea.  In June 2010, she will graduate from the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto. She has been focusing on illustrations and printmaking for the last four years in school.  Her works consist mostly of prints created by intaglio and silkscreen.  Her evocative and emotional style is a mix of retro and modern.  Through her soft printmaking technique, a fine and intricate line work can be seen.

patrick thompson

Patrick will be performing live at imagine a world, with Steven Henderson. Transforming seemingly ugly forms and unintentionally produced marks on canvas and outdoor surfaces into works imbued with intellectual rigor, beauty and a sense of “mistake-ist” playfulness. Patrick has exhibited at the Royal Ontario Museum, The Art Gallery of Calgary, The Center for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona and on outdoor walls internationally.

clem watson

Clem Watson is a painter and inventor working with aerosol and found objects. His work blends graffiti elements and the world around him. Born in India having lived in Australia, New Orleans and Toronto. He’s been trying to diversify his skills to introduce his work in a unique way.
