Nelson Mandela once remarked that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. As a Canadian citizen I have been fortunate enough to experience this truism first hand. Regardless of the form it comes in, education gives a person the agency to shape their life’s trajectory irrespective of the circumstances they were born in to. To be able to help youth gain the education they need to improve their lives is incredibly empowering. What’s more, the opportunity to use this tool to create a more equitable and peaceful world is the very reason I am involved with the redseven foundation.
Those who know me know my life revolves around giving back. While my nights are filled with redseven, my days are spent working at UNICEF Canada. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such incredible organizations. At redseven, I act as the Director of Operations. My role is to ensure the team’s day-to-day operations run smoothly.
I credit my passion for education to the many fantastic teachers that have entered my life. While studying at McGill University I was taught by Professor Rex Brynan. Professor Brynan inspired me to begin a career in international development and for that, I am very grateful.
One of my all time favourite YouTube videos is Google’s ‘Paris Love’ Advertisement. This clip reminds me of some of the amazing doors an education can open.

Love Nelson’s quote! Here’s another one of my favourites by Thomas Jefferson “To penetrate and dissipate these clouds of darkness, the general mind must be strengthened by education.”
